364 days!

Yesterday marked a year from when we are going to be married. I can't believe how fast the time is going. I feel like there are probably a million things to do but every time I sit to make a list my head runs through all the other stuff that is going on and goes blank on the wedding! I hope to do most of the decorating myself and I want to add a personal touch to everything! Pintrest has been wonderful for finding inspiration. I was trying to come up with decorations to put on the candy table, which we have decided to do instead of favors, and as I was searching I saw all these beautiful and fun things!

Beautiful Cake- except instead of the monogram we would have a cake topper! Maybe even our initials as the cake topper.

I found this idea which is a fun way to do a guestbook. I used to LOVE mad libs when I was little, such a fun touch I think!

I also found this which I thought was sweet and simple to thank all of our guests!

The guest lib and thank you would be so easy to do myself which would save us some money as well as add a nice touch!

I also found this and just kept thinking how true it was...
I am off to NH this weekend to visit with the family, jump in some leaves, play with my puppy, and go apple picking!! Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Anyone else have ideas!?? I would love to hear what other people have done at their wedding for DIY decorations and personal touches!

Happy Autumn!

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

Happy hump day! I am not sure about you, but Wednesday's always seem to drag, and by the end of the day I am always so happy to curl up in bed! I just keep telling myself only two more days until the weekend. One of my favorite things to do when I have some spare time (which really could be spent more productively) is to browse pintrest or tumblr...the two sites that I can never seem to get off of! Besides finding amazing inspiration for home design and DIY projects they also have some lovely quotes and pictures that are always fun to read and look at. I thought I would share one to get you through your Wednesday!

Greatest TV show of all time? I think so. I may be out dating some of you, but if you have never seen Boy Meets World, well you should probably get on that!
Anyways what Eric says is true, life is tough...and maybe we should get helmets, but it is also full of amazing opportunities and unforgettable moments. So as much as your Wednesday may be dragging on, try to live in the moment and focus on the happy and positive things going on in your life rather then the tough and hard stuff...seriously this is much easier to say then to do. I am not always miss positivity, but hey I try! Do something fun and spontaneous today, and forget about the tough stuff, there is time for that later!

Have a favorite quote? Or some lovely words of wisdom?..do share!

An Apple a day...

As I have already shared, fall is my favorite season! One reason for this is because of amazing foliage which since moving to a big city does NOT even begin to compete with the foliage in NH. I never thought I would miss NH, but I guess we all eventually miss where we grew up. Along with the foliage brings apple season, which is not only my favorite fruit, but I would say apple picking is among my top 10 favorite activities. Every year Aaron, my mom, and I venture off to Hackleboro orchards in Canterbury NH. This weekend not only are we going apple picking there, but we are getting our engagement pictures done there...I don't think I have ever been so excited. I think my excitement of the weekend is rubbing off on Aaron too, we are going to adventure to TJMaxx later this week to find the perfect picture and apple picking outfits. We captured some fun moments of last years trip!

I can't wait to share our engagement pictures (hopefully next week)!!

I have made a list for more fun fall festivities that I plan on attempting tackling this week that I thought I would share as well!

How good does this look...an apple cider float. I plan on making them Thursday night as a treat since Aaron is making dinner for us.

Love this bag and so simple to do! After we go apple picking I plan on snagging a canvas bag from Michaels and using some of our fresh picked apples to stamp on a bag!

I am also always looking for ways to spice up out apartment I am going to snag some pumpkins this weekend and try these four our kitchen table:

What projects is everyone else tackling to spice up their place for fall!? I love hearing new ideas!

Being crafty

I finally had time to do something crafty! I have been hunting all over for a large frame that I could turn into a white board but they were all kind of pricey. So Aaron and I ventured to goodwill and I scoured through all of their frames and found this beauty!

maybe not a beauty...but I knew I could turn it into one! I used a white acrylic paint and got to work. I had to do a few coats because the black was showing through but after a while I started to like how a little bit of the black showed through here and there, so I did three coats and whatever black still showed through I kept. I left it to dry and after about an hour I became to impatient to finish the rest, so I tried to put the scrapbook paper in it and replace the back...well I was too impatient and smudge the paint. Being impatient ended up making the whole thing take longer because I had to fix a few spots and then wait for it to dry. After about 4 hours of letting it dry I put the paper in and the back of the frame, I was so happy with how it came out! The hardest part was taking off the stand on the back of the frame because it was attached with a metal hinge. I used a lot of muscle power and some pliers and was able to break it off. So here is my finished white board!

The whole project cost me next to nothing, which is good because I don't have much to spend!

Frame: $4.00
Paint: $7.99 (I bought an extra large tube for other projects)
Paper: $3.00 (I bought a large sheet of the paper so I could use it in the future)

You could easily spend under 8 dollars for the whole project, maybe even less if you use a smaller frame!

Stay tuned for more cheap DIY projects and apartment ideas! Anyone else have cute ideas so spice up a small apartment!?

Life is too short

My mind has been spinning with all of the things I have wanted to blog about, mainly all the little apartment DIY projects I have started doing. I promise, posts and pictures about those are coming soon! It's hard to live in an apartment that has little space, and lots of stuff (no we are not hoarders!)...trying to make it our own with a cozy feel is what we are aiming for, thankfully I have Aaron on board to help me with all my crazy lovely ideas!
Anyways this post is about love and life. Life is too short, a close friend to us lost his mom last night. She has been battling cancer for a while now, and she put up an incredible fight. It made Aaron and I stop and think about what is truly important in our lives, and how we need to treasure all the time we get with each other and stop letting the little things come between us, because in the end nothing matters except that we love each other. I am SO excited to be marrying my best friend (Almost one year from now!!). Anyways I can't stop thinking about how precious life is and how short it truly is for some. So always remember that you might be having a crappy day, but you are here now, and you need to live in the moment and be thankful and happy for all you do have!
I found this:
...how cute! Aaron is definitely my one and only, I mean who else would laugh at my goofy faces, and sometimes stupid questions! He asked me if I wanted to watch a political comedy and I responded by asking if he really wanted to watch bowling for columbine...I am pretty sure anyone else would have called me an idiot but he just laughs at all my quirks, clearly I was out of it. I could't ask for anyone better! So take time to tell the ones around you that you love them, and be happy for everything you have in life, because it goes too fast.

To many decisions

After a long day of working and school I actually felt motivated to start planning some of the smaller details of what I think I want at our wedding. Yes, it is a year away but I am hoping to add a lot of homemade touches and that takes time so I mine as well start while I have motivation! I have been thinking about what to put on the tables and I found two ideas I am in love with! Both are so simple to make but also fun.

Unless you have really good vision you probably can't read what it says. It is 5 things you should know about her and him, you place them on each of the tables so that everyone gets to find out a little more about us! I thought they were fun and cute. Thoughts?

Aaron and I also came up with the idea to put disposable cameras on each table so we can get a lot of pictures at the end that guests take, my fear is people will not use them so I found this:

An I Spy game! On each table we would list different things that the guests would have to capture pictures of. This way people would all be taking different pictures and hopefully make it so the cameras went to good use and not to waste! Thoughts?

I know it is only Tuesday but it feels like the week is dragging on. I hope it goes faster, I enjoy weekends way too much! Aaron and I are going to the north end this weekend for dinner and I have been eager since we talked about it last weekend. My goal this weekend is to re-pain and upholster the kitchen chairs we have since they are mismatched and don't go with our table. I am excited to see how that goes, I hope they come out well! I will be sure to share how to do it and the tips I pick up on from doing it myself for the first time.

Oh Monday, how you always win...

I was sitting thinking about what I wanted to write today while listening to a little Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, I am in love with the song colors. However, I always seem to ruin songs for myself because when I love a song I play it on repeat for days...I think Aaron wants to delete probably about half of my itunes library because he is sick of hearing all my songs on repeat! Anyways, I kept thinking about what I wanted to write and I decided I wanted to share my love of baking! It was a day filled with classes, homework, and house work. Monday is by far my least favorite day it just seems to drag, so I decided when I got home today I would bake, it always lifts my spirit! Since Aaron's favorite cookies are chocolate chip I decided that was what I would make, I spent an hour looking at different blogs for recipes and found this:

Alices Chocolate Chip Cookies

According to Alice they are the best...well 1 trip to the grocery store, 2 Cups of flour, and few ingredients later I can now agree with Alice! They are INCREDIBLE. They have a bit of a crunch on the bottom, but stay soft and gooey!! My least favorite part of cookies is when you let them cool they tend to get crunchy, but honestly these stay soft!

They came out so good, and the recipe was really easy!! Our kitchen is very tiny and so it sometimes gets frustrating to bake and cook because there is just not enough counter space, but you only have to use one bowl for the recipe which made my life so much easier.

Aaron and I are finally settling in a routine with school back in full swing, and even though we do not have as much time together as I'd like, but we try to make the best of what we have. This week is premier week for most of the fall TV shows! We are by no means TV junkies, I actually to prefer to be listening to music or doing something else, but there are a few shows we have decided to watch together, normally we can't agree on what to put on. One show that we were able to watch early was the pilot of New Girl and it was great! It was funny and had a good plot. The other show we are both really excited about that starts this tomorrow is GLEE! Yes, Aaron watches it too (he would probably never admit to it though!) I got him hooked this summer with the Glee project and then we started watching season 1 together. I think we are both pretty excited for it come back!

Hope everyone had a good Monday!

All my fellow engaged women!

I am sitting in the library right now attempting to write a paper, but the internet and my love of blogs has gotten the best of me. I don't have time to write a long post but wanted to share what I just stumbled upon.

This is what is happening in my life right now! The planning process is on HOLD because our ideas of good colors do not seem to go. I laughed out loud when I saw this because it was so fitting. I am still working on swaying him the the purple and burnt orange.

Enjoy the crisp fall weather today!

September 18, 2011

Love this!

I was just on pintrest and found the perfect thing to describe how amazing fall is, so I thought I would share!

Also I found this, how ADORABLE! I will be making my nephew wear a bow tie at the wedding!

I love Autumn!

Happy Autumn!!

What a perfect autumn weekend it has been. Autumn is probably my favorite season, it means pumpkin lattes, comfy Uggs, beautiful foliage, and lots of cuddling under warm blankets! Plus, it's the best weather for a good run. It was a little cold for my liking this weekend but that just means it is time to pull out my warm sweaters. Aaron and I decided to venture to Lowell Friday and visit with friends, and then take a surprise trip to Merrimack! We were only there for 20 minutes or so but it was so good to see people. Yesterday was our day of rest, we made hot cocoa and snuggled up under blankets watching movies all day, i forgot how much of a tear jerker P.S. I love you was!!
Today brings some not so fun tasks of homework, cleaning, and getting ready for the week. I try to make it more fun my making the atmosphere cozy with some lit candles and putting some music on, it always seems to make the not-so-fun tasks more bearable. Of course before I start any of that I have been glued to my computer looking at different things and I came across this:

It is basically a paper mache light but with LACE! I think it's so fun, I think I might venture out to a Michael's and get the stuff to make one for our entry way, even if you don't have a hanging light I bet it would look great as just decoration! It's simple and fun.

I was also looking for inspiration for wedding colors because it seems to be an impossible decision in our house. Aaron hates fall colors but I have slowly started to sway him towards a few fall colors. I like the idea of doing a dark purple, like a plum or eggplant as the main color. I want to incorporate like a burnt orange and like a cranberry but I am not sure how I feel about all of those together. Aaron and I are accepting input at this point! Anyone have any good ideas for fall wedding colors, minus the traditional red/oranges together?? I found some ideas I like:

I really like the purple and orange together I think...thoughts?

Also I thought this bouquet was really pretty! If I could add some purple!

Well I am off to go whip up some pancakes and enjoy a cup of coffee! I hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did, enjoy the beautiful weather!

Peace&Love

Addicted!

As I was laying in bed last night thinking about 'the list' (basically everything I have to do before Monday), I was also thinking about what I wanted to blog about next. I decided that I wanted to share one of my recent obsessions with you. A site called pintrest.com it is INCREDIBLE! Basically you create an account and you have what they call 'pin boards' and you can create a board for any category you want. I have about 10, they range from DIY craft projects to home decoration ideas. They literally have every category you can imagine though. You get to follow other people on it and re-pin stuff that you like from their boards onto yours and if you are browsing the internet and come across something you like and want to save you can download a button that goes on your web browser tool bar that says pin it and all you have to do is click it and it pins it to one of your boards! It keeps the things you like organized as well as a good way to keep track of all the stuff you love! Its really addicting once you get going, I could probably spend days on it, but then my apartment would never get cleaned, and my fiance doesn't really know how to cook so I would probably starve! And that's no good so for now, I just jump on it any time I have some free time! I figured since I hyped it up so much I would share some of the things I pinned that I found interesting!

This was just a quote that I love! I pinned it to my quotes board.

Not that I plan on having kids ANYTIME soon, but I love these colors together!

This was one of the best and most simple DIY projects I found, its a dry erase board for your week, or whatever you want to write on it. All you do is buy frames and cut different style scrap book paper to put in each, and then hang them!

I am so lucky to have found someone so amazing, he is my one and only!

ANYWAYS, enough about me! I decided to start a blog not only to chronicle our lives as a growing family! But also to share my thoughts and ideas. You will find everything from DIY ideas, delicious recipes, beautiful pictures, and whatever else I find to share! I hope all you readers enjoy!!
