words of wisdom

“You must have some vision for your life. Even if you don’t know the plan, you have to have a direction in which you choose to go. You want to be in the driver’s seat of your own life because if you are not, life will drive you.”

wedding update

In 32 days I will be...
Walking down the aisle in a beautiful white dress to my best friend. If all goes well the leaves will have started changing color, it will be a slightly warm fall day, and Aaron wont have frosted tips or a shaved head. We will be surrounded by our supportive family and friends, and it will be a most magical day.
I am feeling the pressure to get everything done, there is nothing big left to do, just many little things!

I still have to...
Figure out place cards
Make a seating chart
Make the centerpieces
Finish getting everything for the candy table
Find shoes
Get my bridesmaids gifts
Get Aaron a gift
Find a cake topper
Put together a music list
Determine our ceremony/vows
Finish a few secret projects that I will share after the wedding!

I am sure there is more than this, but it is all I can come up with at the moment! It's a bittersweet feeling knowing that it will be here so soon, I am very ready for it to get here, but also wish I could freeze time for a bit! Anyone else gearing up for some fall weddings?! Or getting married yourself?

Currently...

{anticipating} The arrival of our wedding, 33 days to go.

{wanting} A dslr canon T3i camera

{reading} A Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing, along with Fire Starter Session. Both are great reads.

{watching} I have not really been watching much lately, I did get the chance to catch up on Teen Mom and Dance Moms this morning though! I hate admitting that I am a sucker for some reality TV, I just can't help it.

{eating} Mojo and luna bars, I can't get enough of them!! Especially the white chocolate macadamia nut ones.

{working on} Getting organized for the start of my fall semester (tomorrow) and trying to decide if I want to change my blog name, I have a few ideas stirring.

Anyone else a secret reality TV addict? Or devouring an unhealthy amount of luna bars?
Also, I am looking for some guest posters for the end of September, while I am off getting married! Help me out fellow bloggers!

Life Lately

I have been MIA for most of the week, but it was my last week of grad school boot camp, I am happy to say I made it out alive! I start my fall semester this week. I hope to get back on a regular posting schedule starting this week, but hang in there while I get used to balancing school and work. For now enjoy some pictures from the past week or so...
A few snap shots of the skyline and a beautiful sunset, and of course the inside of Starbucks.
I started a new book this week, so far I really am enjoying it. I also snapped a picture from my yogi tea, I love the pomegranate green tea! Plus, I love their little sayings.
I bought a book and hope to teach myself the basics of html and CSS, can you say new blog design?! I also decided to make brownies last weekend at 3 o'clock in the morning...it sounded like a good idea at the time. That last picture is the biggest diet coke we could find for our drive home.
We went to visit a friend in NH and stopped to see J.D Salinger's barn on the way! The view from the are was incredible.
Some more pictures of the barn, a wonderful picture of my best friend, and an afternoon stop at Starbucks after a long day of classes!
As much as I try to keep up my appearance on the blog, I am NOT perfect. See how messy my apartment got last week? It was awful and stressful, but it happens. Sometimes laying on the couch with A is worth keeping the messy apartment.
We bought The Hunger Games special edition DVD this weekend, its been on replay. We also indulged in some sugar cookies, hot chocolate, and a game of cards while we watched How I Met Your Mother.

I have been struggling with finding balance, and have been trying really hard to appreciate the little things we get to do in my free time. Hopefully this balance thing will get better.

wedding advice from a dude.

1) Now this first little tidbit may not be too popular with all you brides-to-be, but I feel compelled to say it. Unlike with some lists, in which the order of items it contains is irrelevant, this particular point is slotted at numero uno as a direct result of its importance.
Guys…It is OK for you to care about your own wedding! It is ok to have opinions and
to defend them until the only way to settle it is an impassioned best of 3 rock, paper, scissors
match. And should you lose said best of 3, it is ok to claim illegal procedure on the part of your
opponent and to demand a replay. Why? I’m glad you asked.
This is all acceptable behavior because, after all, odds are you were the one to ask HER
to marry YOU. You cared then about the prospect of a wedding, and I guarantee some items will come up about which you care as well. For example, your hatred of the color periwinkle, and there is no way you are letting that color adorn 4 ties and vests, 130 bows around chair covers, and 20 floral arrangements.

2) As it turns out rank order for the next two items is in fact irrelevant. As Marshall and Lilly remind us, the wedding you set out to have is never the one you end up having, so learn to roll with the punches. Should anything go wrong, say your dream venue is entirely booked for the duration of your dream month, have back-ups and know that you will be extremely happy no matter what, as long as you and your spouse to be are truly right for each other.

3) Finally my last piece of advice is... decide what kind of party you are throwing and pick your DJ carefully based on that, and do so early!!! If we had to plan another wedding the DJ would be the first thing on the to-do list. We never could have imagined it would be so hard to find one we liked. No other piece of a wedding/reception has as big an impact on the atmosphere and funness as does the DJ.

5 things to help you stress less...

If you haven't caught on I have been beyond stress attempting to balance school, work, and my personal life. Lately I have been cranky and snappy due to my stress, so I am attempting to turn a new leaf...I am going to start focusing on a few little things each day that help me stress less! Maybe they will help you as well?

Also, what is the consensus on changing the name of your blog? Is it frowned upon...I have been thinking about something that fits me a little better...I would love your input!

Bridal Shower

A few weekends ago I had my bridal shower! My amazing mother and bridesmaids put the entire thing together for me. It was a day filled with love, laughter, food and wine! I was completely spoiled by my family and friends and I am so grateful for it all. Here are a few snapshots of the day...
How gorgeous is this cake?! I didn't even want to cut into it because it just looked too pretty. The day was perfect, I could not have asked for anything better.

Life Lately.

How sad is this? I took 6 pictures this week. 6. Thats it. I think starting school as thrown me for a loop, I have been a step behind all week and needless to say my phone has been tucked away in my purse. So this is my life this week...
1. Strawberry daiquiri study break, it was much needed.
2. A quote from Fire Starter Sessions, which I am slowly but sure making my way through.
3. A mini sample from Starbucks
4. We hit up the Habitat for Humanity re-store
5. Stripes for a day.
6. A night drive to North Hampton where we stopped at the North Hampton brewery.

Hopefully this week I will have a little more control over my time, I am hoping to get in a routine of school and work, which will allow for more picture taking time!

How was your week?

Friday Favorites

This might be one of the longest weeks I have ever had, but it is finally Friday and I can hopefully relax a little this weekend. I didn't have much time to read blogs or find many fun things on Pinterest, but here are the few lovely things I pinned this week!

Favorite DIY: I already did Sharpie mugs, I think it might be time to try these chalkboard ones.
Favorite quote: Sometimes I really do believe I was made for another world.
Favorite smile: Ummm how cute is this little giraffe?! Ahh so in love.
Favorite style: Wishing my hair would come out like this, I'm going to keep trying!
Favorite moment: Besides watching the fab 5 women's gymnastic team take gold, this was another proud moment of mine, the Women's US team deserved the gold and I am SO happy for them.

A Trip to Beech Hill Farm

A few weeks ago Aaron and I made time to travel home to NH, I love summers there. There is nothing better than sitting by the pool with a good book, or taking a nice long drive with the windows down and a little John Mayer blasting.
We have been making frequent trips home this summer to tie up some loose wedding ends, and to spend time with our families. While we were there I was dying for some ice cream and fresh veggies (I know two completely different things), we decided to take a trip about 10 minutes away to Beech Hill Farm.
There were so many adorable animals to pet and look at, as well as a delicious ice cream stand with an overwhelming amount of flavors!
I could have spent forever with all of the animals, I loved every minute of it. Oh yea and my ice cream pictured above is Purple Cow...so delicious.
